“Assuming the position of Artistic Director of the Orchestra of Polish Baltic Philharmonic, at the beginning of the season, Ernst van Tiel had announced that he will do his best, in order to hit musical tastes of the wide audience. To reach this goal, he bet on the ambitious repertoire, but accessible in perception: symphonic works of Mozart, Haydn, Liszt, Dvorak, Ravel, Prokofiev, Stravinsky and Poulenc. Ernst van Tiel has been stressing out very often that he dreams that each concert at the end of the season should resemble the promenade concerts. Probably that’s why he decided to perform an encore “Land of hope and glory” by E. Elgar – one of the four works, performed during this year final annual Promenade Concerts “The Last Night of Proms”. Unfortunately, we don’t have any equivalent of these concerts in Poland. It’s a pity, because maybe then the public could join the common singing as it happens during the British concerts and the reaction of the audience would be more lively.”

“However, the management of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic and the orchestra of Polish Baltic Philharmonic deserved for a robust applause.”
